Let me tell you right off the bat, this is one of those albums with a sound that just isn't done the justice it deserves by being labelled simply 'Electronic' music. I'm not going to go off on a rant about that whole issue, but marinade on it yourself if you'd like.
For me, this is one of those albums where if one song comes on in shuffle, it isn't long before you find yourself 4 songs deeper with a sheen to your eyes and a tad bit of drool making its way down your chin. That's especially true if the first song you hear is "You". Its simple foundations, quirky mixing and frequent changes of pace keep the ear yearning for the next bar, and who doesn't love a catchy beat right?
As you progress through the next four tracks, things just kind of keep on heading down that road to greatness. In their own right, each track shines. The rest of the album was a pleasure to listen to, and the artist's respect and admiration of Japanese music and culture is clearly evident throughout the disc as well. He spent
a year living in Japan and two years at the renowned School of Oriental and Asian Studies (SOAS) learning to read and write Japanese.
